The design responds to the rugged landscape and wild garden, sitting alongside an existing weatherboard beach house within a larger residential complex. Organic forms tie the architecture to its site and dissolve the line between inside and out.

Conceived as an architecture in-the-round, the house opens in every direction, blurring the boundary between interior and garden. Undulating glass walls shape and diffuse natural light while a layered roof filters sunlight and frames keyhole views of the landscape.

The result is a shelter the feels open – porous to light, air and nature. An expressive structure carries the building’s weight while giving it a strong presence on the site.

Leaf House is grounded in the landscape, yet equal to the extraordinary setting.
