MILLEND MILL wins ‘BEST CREATIVE REUSE OF AN INDUSTRIAL BUILDING’ AWARD at the AIA Awards.
The Awards were held in the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, UK – Birthplace of The Industrial Revolution, as part of the Industrial Heritage Conference, celebrating European Industrial & Technical Heritage Year 2015. Co-hosted with The Princes Trust and Historic England, the event brought together experts from the UK, Germany and the Netherlands to explore the challenges and benefits of reusing industrial heritage buildings.
Millend Mill, once near collapse, has been given new life through its restoration into high-quality apartments, preserving its original water-powered features. Recognized as a nationally important heritage asset, it won one of only five awards as ‘Best Creative Reuse of an Industrial Building’.
